This plus level continues the rise in sentence and concept complexity that was evident in the previous level. Learners are exposed to sophisticated nuance, speculation, hypotheses and advanced techniques for defining and explaining complicated scientific information. This sentence is a good example: ' Sometimes, when looking back on his life, he wonders what might have happened had he not been injured.' In that sentence is a past unreal condition and speculation that involve the present and the past. Sentences have several complete ideas strung together with gerunds, infinitives, clauses and conditions. People in stories are expressing regrets and wishes, not just stating their plans. They are in the middle of complex situations that require sophisticated structures for them to reflect on their options.
